On Wed. we were at Icahn Stadium for the CHSAA Relays. The weather was extremely hot and sunny. The early races were nice and comfortable but the later races the temperature was a definite factor.
In the first race of the day, the 3K steeplechase, Brian Smith led from the gun and took the win with Tom Thieke claiming 2nd. In the Freshman DMR, the team of Matt Taddeo, Skandal Delince, Will Schneider & Jake Hensler took 2nd, as did the 4X1600m team of Nick Brennan, Tom Diliberto, Tom Flynn & Ken Walshak.
The 4X200m relay team of Pat Farmer, Mike Mastanduno, Warner Cooley III and Anthony Barnes took 2nd in a very close race. The Soph 4X200 of Napoleon Zapata, Gene Kum, Cameron Black & Stanton Ridley took home the bacon with a first place finish.
In the Varsity DMR, it was no contest as the team of Brandon Keany, Pat Farmer, Payton Hazzard & Pat Murphy easily took the win. The 4X400 team of Marc Saracino, Mike Mastanduno, Warner Cooley & Anthony Barnes took 2nd, barely edged out at the line by 0.002 of a second. The Frosh 4X400 team of Sterling Ridley, Will Schneider, Chris Zarnitz & Travis Volpe placed 3rd.
In the SMR (Sprint Medley Relay) the team of Payton Hazzard, Gaetan Zinsou, Austen Verhulst & Pat Murphy claimed the top prize. The Soph 4X8 team of Kevin Kreider, Bobby Ferrara, Dan Meehan & Frank Segreto take 2nd.
Our throwers had a good meet as well, with the Discus relay team of Bentley Whitfield and Tom Harty taking 1st. Bentley also claimed first overall individually with a throw of 135'8".
The Frosh Shot Put Relay team of Blake Walton & Tim Mounsey also claimed top honors. The Varsity Shot team of Chris Hand & Bentley Whitfield took 2nd.
In the Javlin, the team of Chris Hand and Dan Giaccio-Williams took 4th.
