St. Anthony's Invitational

 

Despite the wet start to the day, the weather turned very nice for the races and we had a very good day.  The Freshmen boy's "B" team led off the day, finishing 2nd in their race.  The team was led by Stephen Sidor (4th), followed by Tom Daly (5th), Chris Regan (9th), Christian Mayne (10th), Mike Newman (11th), Austin Bitzas (12th) and Brian Doyle (18th).  
The next up was the Lady freshpeople "B" team.  They were the first winning team for the Friars, and did it in grand fashion.  The ladies scored a perfect 15 and placing their top 7 in the top 8.  They were led by Jade Brennan (1), Caitlyn Skrypek (2), Stephaine Edwards (3), Jenny Schwalje (4), Brianna Woodward (5), Cassidy Brennan (7) and Marissa Como (8). 


The next up was the Freshman "A" team, which stomped the competition, placing all 7 scorers in the top 26 positions.  David Lipsky led the team (4) with Joe Orelli (8), William Isenberg (11), Jake Hensler (12), Nolan Hayes (17), Matt Taddeo (19) and Sean FItzgerald (26). 
The Ladies Frosh "A" team was next up and continued the winning ways also winning big.  They had their 7 scorers in the top 12 of the race, with Alex Russo winning the race, Kerri-Anne Flynn (3), Elizabeth Kelsh (4), Caroline Kechejian (5), Gianna Signorille (6), Victoria Pileggi (7) and Delaney Miller (12).

Next on the course were the big guns, the Varsity Squad.  The team won over a highly touted Calhoun team in a close fought battle.  Ken Walshak led the Friars taking 2nd, Pat Murphy was 3rd.  Thomas Flynn (6), Nick Brennan (10), Rob Tassey (12), Matt Fortino (15) and Brandon Keany (22). 
The Ladies ran an upper-class team for the varsity squad and placed 8th.  This team was led by Kathleen Westervelt (32), Danielle Cornell (36), Kayden Becker (37), Claire Blohm (47), Katharine Kechejian (59), Meaghan Kennedy (61) and Megan Kennedy (68).

The JV teams were next up, and the guy's A-1 team placed 2nd.  The were led by Nick Kaufmann (3), Tom Thieke (5), Casey French (9), Jon Licandro (13), Anthony Musacchio (16), Ian Storck (19) and Sean Leng Smith (20).
The Ladies only had 1 JV race and they placed 4th.  The Lady Friars were led by Lauren Reinertsen (15), Kelsey Kettel (23), Lauren Brown (24), Megan Skrypek (25), Kathryn Adams (39), Taylor Glausen (53) and Megan Sloan (73).
The guys then ran their 2nd JV race and again defeated Calhoun, placing the 7 scorers in the top 20.  Mark Saracino led the pack taking 1st.  Payton Hazzard was 5th, Nick Mazzucca (6), Justin Therry (7), James Krawczyk (8), Nick Johnson (10) and Jared Sassone-McHugh (19).

The Sophomores had to wait all day to race, but didn't disappoint the crowd, with both teams taking home the gold.  The ladies were the first on the 2.5 mile course and placed all 7 scorers in the top 18 runners.  Veronica Leddy claimed top honors winning the race.  She was followed by Victoria Ciotti (3), Mariella Billello (6), Lauren Fontana (7), Nicole Krawczyk (11), Lauren Kerl (12) and Kristi Pentecoste (18).
The guys also claimed top honors for this race, with Brian Smith leading all runners.  He was followed by Tom Diliberto (2), Kevin Kreider (4), Frank Segreto (5), Matt Nock (9), Bobby Ferrara (12) and Matt Pluhowski (13).
