Suffern Invitational Recap

The Lady Friars opened their season on Saturday, spliting the squad, with 21 runners venturing north to the Suffern Invitational (apt name considering we were "Suffern" with a 5:30am departure ;p ).  The freshmen led off the day for the Friars, capturing a team 3rd place finish.  They were led by Kerri-Anne Flynn (10th overall), followed by Elizabeth Kelsch (24th),
Delaney Miller (33rd), Jenny Schwalje (35th), Jade Brennan (38th), Caroline Kechejian (53rd) and Meredith Bushell (69th).  Well done ladies and welcome to St. Anthony's !!

The JV squad ran a person down when one of our athletes came down sick the night before the meet.  Despite this, they earned a tough fought 7th place team finish.  The team was led by Mariella Billelo (16th) with Claire Blohm finishing next (17th), Kelsey Kettell (30th),
Hannah Reinertsen (46th) and Megan Kennedy (54th).

The Varsity squad took 2nd, a mere 10 pts. behind the victors.  A very bright spot in the day was the performance of Lauren Lavaro, who won the race going away, with a 30 second margin of victory.  The race was basically over before they completed the first circuit of the lake, with Lauren holding a commanding 40 meter lead.  Veronica Leddy came in next for the team, taking 8th overall.  Victoria Ciotti (19th), Kathleen Westervelt (20th),
Danielle Cornell (25th), Kayden Becker (29th) and Lauren Kerl (31st).

A fine performance for the ladies and a great start to the season.
