We Take it All!!
Boy's & Girl's teams repeat
as Intersectional Champions!!
On the Guy's side, the meet was basically over after the first event, with the guys, led by Tom Diliberto, going 1-5 in the 3K steeple, garnering an insurmountable 16 point lead. Payton offered up some excitement in the open 800m run, holding off until 250m to go before turning on the jets and surging to the lead, then holding off a last ditch effort by another runner. Warner also paced his race to finish just ahead of his competitor. Cameron Black showed the league that he is a serious contender in the 110 High Hurdles, winning despite nearly falling over 2 hurdles. He maintained his poise and form to gain the win. Mike Brunoforte vaulted to a win, clearing 14'6" then had 3 good attempts at 15'. Chris Hand claimed 2nd place points in the Discus throw. These top points plus all the "little" points were enough to give us a comfortable margin and then seal the victory early in the meet.
The Ladies had a nail-biter going on through most of the meet, at one point down by 15 points. The team depth, providing the small points (3-5 place finishes) proved to be the difference that the other teams couldn't overcome. The depth kept us close until we reached the point where our top performers were able to work their magic.
But in the later events, they chipped away at the lead, and then going into the strongest events for our ladies, the relays, we were only 3 points down. The rest is history ( for the other teams ).
Olicia & Megan Feidler started the late attack on the lead by going 1-2 in the 400m dash. Katie Gallagher won the High Jump and took 3rd in the Long Jump. Olicia also anchored the winning 4X800m relay team. Ivory won the 100m dash with a great start & blazing speed, winning easily. The 4X100 team destroyed the competition, winning by nearly 3 seconds in a race that is usually decided by tenths or hundredths. Their fantastic stick passes are key to their successes. Imani Williams won the Javelin with a new PR, 100' 10", besting her nearest opponent by 7'!
