Champs!!!
Olicia Williams sets new meet record in the 1000m run
Her time is US#3 & NYS#2 time this season!!
Guy's finish in 4th place.
The ladies once again dominated a championship, winning by more than 37 points (nearly doubling 2nd place). Their point total was the second highest in the meet history. They scored 7 first place finishes (out of 15 events) and scored in nearly all the events they entered. The ladies took the top 3 spots in the high jump, which was won by Katie Gallagher, who then literally ran over to the long jump and then proceeded to win that event as well. Also scoring in the HJ was Leigh Poetzsch and Liz Fallon (2nd & 3rd respectively). In the 55m dash, Emily Taussig claimed victory with a late surge to nip her opponent at the wire. Gabrielle Barbour claimed 3rd and Chynna MoChung took 4th. In the 300m dash, Megan Fiedler claimed 2nd. In the 600m run, Lauren Fontana took 4th. As stated above, Olicia won the 1000m run, with Sloane Russ & Danielle Cornell tying for 4th. Lauren Lavoro took 3rd in the 3000m run, Victoria Ciotti claimed 5th in the 1500m run, breaking the 5 minute barrier for the first time. In the Pole Vault, Alex Russo tied for 2nd place and Jen Duffy placed 5th. In the Triple Jump, Lexi Fernandez took 4th and Brianna Lyn claimed 5th. The Ladies claimed the top spots in all 3 relays. They also took 4th in both the 4X200 & 4X400.
The winners are all heading to the State Federation meet in 2 weeks. Congratulations Ladies & well done!!
There is an article on Armorytrack about the meet, you can view it here.
The guys didn't fare as well at this meet. Without any event wins, they were not in a position to win the meet. Despite that, there were several PR's set at this meet. Matt Taddeo destroyed his old record in the 3200, Tom Diliberto ran an amazing time in the 1000m run as did Tom Flynn, Nick Kaufmann, Jed McMullin, Jake Hensler & Brendan Gallagher in the 1600m run. Genis Guzman also set a new PR in the 55m hurdles.
For the most part, this season is over for the majority of the team. Time to rest up (for a breif while) for the start of the outdoor season. For those going on to States, Easterns &/or the Long Island Track & Field Invitational, practice continues...
Best of luck to everyone continuing on!!
